Matte Black Jetta

Vinyl vs. Paint

People often ask why someone would want to wrap their car compared to having it painted. My answer is:

Changing the color of your car will de-value the price if you ever want to sell or trade it in.

Painting your car at a good body shop can take over a week depending if you want the door jambs and everything else painted.

Wrapping your car with vinyl takes only a few days and is non-permanent. It lasts 3-5 years and can be removed at any time without affecting the original paint. If you decide to sell the car one day, your car will be in the same condition before it was wrapped.

It’s almost like getting a temporary tattoo that looks like the real thing but can be removed within several years.

After talking to body shop experts in my area and having them watch me wrap a vehicle at their facility, they were astounded by the quality and short period of time it took for a car to go from one color to another.

The 2010 VW Jetta pictured above was wrapped with 3M 1080 Series Matte Black vinyl. The original paint was silver and the hood and center piece of the front bumper was wrapped with Black Carbon Fiber vinyl as well.

The project took about 3 days to finish.
